Over the last 50 years, Richardson Saw and Lawnmower has grown from a specialty shop to one of the largest multi-line dealers in the area. One of our goals at Richardson Saw and Lawnmower is to continue to service our customers with the best power equipment available and provide the best customer service possible. Our experienced service technicians pride themselves on quick, accurate repairs and we warranty all the products we sell. We stock one of the largest parts inventories in the DFW area to ensure reduced service department downtime and prompt parts counter order fulfillment.
Richardson Saw & Lawnmower has been serving the DFW area for over 50 years. The company began business operations in the mid-1960s. James Poen, the owner of Richardson Saw & Lawnmower, started working at the store under his father who was the owner at that time.
When he was about 10 years old, he would follow his father around the store while learning the trade. On summer breaks from elementary, high school, and college, James worked in the sales, parts, and make ready departments gathering more knowledge. In 1998, James took an outside sales job in Tampa, Florida and was employed by Florida Outdoor Equipment. It was there that he further learned about the business by selling Echo, Scag, and Great Dane products along with other supplies in the outdoor equipment retail business. James was awarded salesman of the year by the retail dealer association in 1999. In February 2000, James and his wife, Brenda moved back to Dallas to buy Richardson Saw & Lawnmower from his parents who were retiring.
Richardson Saw & Lawnmower currently staffs around 20 employees. Five of our employees are our outdoor power equipment technicians. Each technician has the training to demonstrate both the knowledge and the skills to handle challenging service situations, including but not limited to carburetor operation and service, failure analysis, and maintenance and service. 75% of the current employees have been employed with Richardson Saw & Lawnmower for over 12 years. We currently employee one Stihl Platinum certified technician which is currently the highest level of certification Stihl offers, we also have one Stihl Gold certified technician. They are both factory trained in the diagnosis of failure analysis of two cycle equipment. We are also a Master Service Dealer for Stihl, Honda Premier Service Center, Toro Master Service Dealer, Scag Pro Gold Dealer, along with many other designations. We carry a full line of lawnmowers, generators, tillers, chainsaws, trimmers, and edgers.
Along with premium lawn care equipment, we also carry a complete line of equipment specifically geared towards the arborist. With several styles of powered pole saws, manual pole saws, hand trimming tools, various loppers, cutters and trimmers – as well as climbing gear like rope, saddles/harnesses, carabineers and pole climbing gear – we can accommodate the professional and homeowner alike to supply the right tools to take care of your tree trimming tasks.
